BlueCherry maximizes efficiency and enhances user experience by harnessing the power of the web. BlueCherry exchanges data between the client and server using industry-standard XML and HTTP protocols to improve system performance, but provides a much richer user experience through a desktop Smart Client rather than a web browser.

Transactions between the client and server work just like any other web-based application. A request is sent from the client to the application server, which retrieves and assembles the response and sends it back to the client to be rendered. There are no persistent connections between the desktop client and application server or database, freeing valuable network and server resources for other users.

Unlike a typical web application, however, the graphical interface is not delivered from server to client. Instead, only XML data is exchanged, eliminating the burden of assembling and passing graphical interface elements and scripts from the server to the client. The Smart Client performs standard data manipulation functions and communicates with the server only when additional data transactions are required.
